I didn't mean to walk a mile, really!

This picture has nothing at all to do with my day.

I took the dog out and decided to walk a few times around the yard; my goal was 3 laps. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but 12 laps is a mile. As I was walking, I started a little self-talk about how I like to eat and therefore, I need to exercise, so I decided to do 6 laps. About lap 5, I reminded myself that I couldn't have both good food and laziness, and decided to go a few more. Before I knew it, I was on my cooling down lap, number 12.

My lesson learned today (and other days when this has happened) is to go out and walk a few laps and bump it up as I go along. If I don't feel like it, it's okay; my goal was to walk 3.

That's 2 days of pool exercise and 1 of land exercise thus far this week. I will have at least 1 more half-hour of walking to make my pact or I will go to the pool and do my own thing to make my pact.

Accidental exercise = damn, that felt good.

Brain fart - challenge of the wall

You are walking.

You come to a wall.

You have choices.

  • Stop.
  • Figure out a way over, around, through, or under the wall. Or stand still and stare at the wall, and do nothing.

The choice is up to you.

Pacts restarted

I restarted all my pacts:

3 x exercise
10 x veggies
5 x logging

I had it at 18 veggies and 6 logging. I want to get it started and stick with it. I'm setting my calorie goal for 1 pound per week and pledge to stick to that. It shouldn't be hard. It takes my want and I have a lot of that right now. I will quit smoking on February 25, so want to have my nutrition in place by then for sure.

I am refocusing on protein, vegetables, and fruits, but the other groups may or may not be eaten, but as suggested by many "good diets for diabetics" articles, they will remain a garnish or small piece of the meal.

I'm also wearing the pedometer for my own personal edification. I busted it up 100 steps more today than yesterday. I have a long way to go to get to 10K steps per day, but there you go.

I'm feeling good and want to stay that way.

Plan for the day

First of all, I figured out why my back hurts. It's not from getting on the floor with the dog; it's from bending over in an odd position sewing. I can reproduce it by making that move. Hooray. At least I know the source.

So, the plan for today is to do an old person exercise DVD and get some good stretching in and exercise for a half hour. I got a couple DVDs for Christmas and this is a great day to try one out.

I have asparagus and pancetta cooking as we speak.

Lunch will involve either egg salad or tuna salad with shredded lettuce and either an apple or an orange or a banana.

Dinner will include cauliflower for sure.

That's the plan so far. I'm not a fan of pain, so will get this back thing stretched out as soon as possible. Damn, I'm getting old!

Baby's got back...

....pain.

I gotta get my shit together. I've been getting down on the floor with the dog lately and now I can hardly move. My back is not happy. I'm not used to having back pain. I don't think I like this. Pool tomorrow should help.

Please, paleo spirits, point me in the right fucking direction tomorrow.
